Hoopers Carlisle

After trading in Carlisle since 2006, the stores group Hoopers has had to consider the future of its store in Castle Street.

Managing Director Anne Horton said, “Unfortunately, in spite of the best efforts of all concerned and significant investment in the property, we have had to conclude that Hoopers’ style of trading has not been a success in Carlisle and the store is no longer sustainable. Alternative solutions continue to be investigated while we embark upon full consultation with all affected staff.”

Initially the store will close for three days from Tuesday 8th May while preparations are made for a Clearance Sale. The store will re-open on Friday 11th May, with the Sale starting on Saturday 12th May, and will continue trading until the possible final closure on 23rd June 2012.

Hoopers is a group of high quality department stores trading in Torquay, Wilmslow, Tunbridge Wells and Harrogate. All the other Hoopers stores are unaffected by the closure of Carlisle.
